WASHINGTON, D.C.—Design and architecture firm Studio3877 has announced its move to a new and larger office in Georgetown. The move comes on the heels of the firm’s expansion, with two new employees joining the firm just this fall, and many hospitality and commercial projects on the boards.
Founded by David Shove-Brown and David Tracz, Studio3877 previously occupied a shared office space in Logan Circle. The firm principals started their search for a private space this past summer as their roster of staff and clients began to expand. The 1,300-square-foot office features an open concept that allows for collaboration, brainstorming, and meetings, with a conference area for client presentations and more than enough space to accommodate Studio3877’s rapidly growing team. “It’s indicative of what’s been happening with the firm,” explains David Shove-Brown. “We’ve grown our client base and are adding to our staff organically. We’re hiring good people for the right positions, and we need space to keep growing.”
This fall, Shove-Brown and Tracz brought on Rachel Case as a job captain and project architect. Prior to joining Studio3877, Case was a project designer at RJC Architects. She graduated from Washington University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture and went on to earn both a Master of Architecture as well as a graduate certificate in Building Science from the University of South Carolina. As a LEED accredited professional, Case brings extensive experience in designing and developing high performing projects that meet LEED standards at Gold and Platinum levels. “Rachel has a passion for pushing the edges of architectural form, an interest developed through research and practice in Building Information Modeling, parametric design, and digital fabrication,” says David Tracz.
Heidi Metcalf has also joined Studio3877 as an architectural intern. Metcalf earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Ball State University in Indiana, where she served as media chair for the organizations AIA Students and Freedom by Design. “We were really impressed with her portfolio and her thoroughness in asking and answering questions,” says Tracz. “She has a strong detail-oriented thought process and her personality seemed to fit perfectly with our little band of rebels.”
“It’s time to expand our space and to have our own identity,” says David Shove-Brown. “We have the opportunity to create a culture of our own in our own space. It’s invigorating as we move into new and exciting projects, in an exciting area of town.”
