SAN DIEGO—SkyBlue has been founded to deliver high-performance, fashion-conscious protective bedding technology for the global hospitality and retail markets. SkyBlue’s  DreamTec bedding technology offers advanced protection from bed bugs as well as stains and liquids in an attractive streamlined encasement style.  The DreamTec line includes a selection of designer quality fabrics that are Nanotex treated to strengthen the material and provide stain and fluid resistance. Plus, its patent-pending BB-Lock technology provides maximum control of bed bug entry and escape, along with bite-proof protection.

“DreamTec is more than the most advanced technology for protecting your bedding investment, including the mattress, box spring, and pillows,” said Petra Michael, SkyBlue founder and CEO. “It’s an entirely new category of bedding that combines protection with design in a more practical and creative way than ever before—by making the protective encasement a functional design element of the hotel guestroom.”

Michael (formerly Minoff) is a well-known, well-published expert on protective bedding. While a contractor for a leading bedding protection company, she conceptualized the encasement innovation and was credited with being instrumental in the design and development of the world’s first scientifically proven bed bug isolation and control device.  Her expertise in biology and chemistry, along with training in textile design, enabled her to create the next generation solution that combines performance with style in an encasement designed exclusively for hoteliers and retailers worldwide.

Saves on Natural Resources

DreamTec’s designer bedding protection performs a dual role, delivering cost savings and value for hotels from an operations and design perspective. For hotel owners and operators, DreamTec’s zip top mattress encasement saves housekeeping labor and natural resources with an easy to handle top cover.  It can be quickly removed by one staff member and uses less energy to wash compared to a full cover. Plus, the Nanotex- enhanced fabric, licensed through Standard Fiber, is comfortable and breathable, compared to other popular “noisy” or “hot” encasements. As a result, guests have a relaxing sleep experience. From a hotel design perspective, DreamTec’s fitted cap box spring encasements provide a stylish alternative, while achieving guestroom brand standards for bedding ensembles at a lower cost than traditional bed skirts.

DreamTec will be available this summer through select global licensees and distributors in a range of styles and configurations, and in a wide selection of textile materials and colors.

Michael is introducing the DreamTec line to the hotel industry at the 2011 HD Expo & Conference in Las Vegas on May 18 to 20 in the Standard Fiber booth.
