SHANGHAI—Global research and consulting firm, Great Place to Work, announced that Hilton took the top spot on the list of this year’s “Best Workplaces in Greater China 2020”. This is the sixth consecutive year that Hilton has been named to Greater China’s “Best Workplaces” list, and the second consecutive year that it has been named as one of the country’s best workplaces for women.

With its continued success on the “Best Workplaces” list, Hilton was granted the additional honor of being named “The Legend” by Great Place to Work. To receive “The Legend” designation, a company is required to have built solid trust by being listed among the “Best Workplaces in Greater China” for at least five consecutive years. This year, only nine companies in Greater China could count themselves among “The Legend” tier.

“We are honored to be named as one of the best places to work for the sixth consecutive year, as well as one of the best workplaces for women for the second year in a row,” said Qian Jin, Area President of Greater China and Mongolia, Hilton. “Our Purpose is to be the most hospitable company in the world, and this purpose is directed at both our guests and Team Members. Our people are our greatest assets, and they are at the heart of our company’s development and success. When it comes to our female Team Members, they are a unique source of talent, expertise, and inspiration—bringing valued diversity of thought and experience to the workplace. Especially during such a challenging year for the hospitality industry, we are able to succeed thanks to our Team Members in Greater China.”

Total of 108 Companies Researched

According to Great Place to Work, the honor of being named to these lists is the result of dedicated and motivated employees and leaders, and their commitment in the workplace. This year, Great Place to Work named 38 companies to its “Best Workplaces” list in Greater China, as the research firm conducted a survey of 108 companies with more than 150,000 employees in the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The survey assesses employees’ perceptions of leadership, organizational culture, and trust, and is critical to a company being selected to the list of “Best Workplaces in Greater China.”

Earlier, Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine announced that Hilton has been ranked third on the list of World’s Best Workplaces out of thousands of companies considered. In the fifth consecutive year on this list, Hilton is once again the number one ranked company in the hospitality industry.

“Hilton has always put its people at the core of its business—both in Greater China and around the world,” said Qian Jin. “In Greater China, we provide a range of family-focused benefits for Team Members—including the Women in Leadership Workshop, flexible working environments, and other benefits for employees. Hilton also provides a variety of resources and programs aimed at attracting, developing, and supporting Team Members at various stages of their careers. Through the Thrive@Hilton Program, Hilton supports Team Members in their growth physically, mentally, and spiritually. Globally, Hilton also provides further learning and development opportunities through Hilton University, its Executive Committee Networking Program, as well as TM benefit such as Go Hilton.”

2020 marks Hilton’s 32nd year in Greater China, and it will soon welcome its 300th property in the region by year’s end. By 2025, Hilton aims to have 1,000 hotels in operation in China while increasing the number of Team Members to 100,000, with local general managers accounting for 85 percent and female general managers accounting for 30 percent.
