TORONTO—In the recently released J.D. Power & Associates North American Syndicated Study on Hospitality, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and its award-winning Green Partnership program led the way for the luxury hotel category with a consumer awareness level of 83 percent for Environmentally Friendly hotel brands. Amongst all North American hotel companies, Fairmont placed second overall, closely behind sister brand Delta Hotels which received an 84 percent ranking.

Within the report, Fairmont was singled out for its green policies and acknowledged for its acclaimed Green Partnership Guide, a comprehensive how-to text which it shares with other hotels looking to strengthen their environmental outreach.

With responsible travel increasingly top-of-mind for today’s traveler, a portion of the study measured the level of guest knowledge of environmental activity within the hotel industry. As part of the process, respondents were asked questions like “Does the hotel you stayed at have an environmentally friendly conservation program?” or “In what ways does the hotel show its conservation efforts?”

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is a leader in sustainable tourism and was the first major hotel chain in North America to embrace environmental stewardship in its daily operations through the implementation of its own Green Partnership Program. The program focuses on improvements in the areas of waste management, energy and water conservation, as well as a strong element of community outreach through local groups and partnerships.
