Renewables Hit New Record, Provide More Than One-Fourth of U.S. Electricity

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Renewable energy sources (i.e., biomass, geothermal, hydropower, solar, wind) produced significantly more electricity than either coal or nuclear power during the first five months of 2020, according to a SUN DAY Campaign analysis of just-released data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). In May alone, renewable sources accounted for more than one-quarter (25.3 percent) of the nation’s net electrical generation—an all-time high. Loosening Showerhead Water Flow Restrictions Makes No WaterSense

While shorter showers and not letting the shower water run are encouraged in at least one article on the U.S. Department of Energy’s own website, and the U.S. EPA has its own long-standing and successful WaterSense label program to reward showerhead water efficiency, President Trump believes the time is now to get less showerhead efficient. Following numerous public complaints from the president about low-flow fixtures designed to save water, the Department of Energy has proposed to change the definition of a showerhead.
