BOSTON—Cubellis, an international architecture, engineering, and interior design firm, announced that it has been awarded LEED Gold for the firm’s headquarters in Boston. LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

The Cubellis headquarters achieved LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. By using less energy and water, LEED certified buildings save money for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.

“The strength of USGBC has always been the collective strength of our leaders in the building industry,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair, U.S. Green Building Council. “Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role of the building industry in that effort, Cubellis demonstrates their commitment and tremendous green building leadership through LEED certification of their corporate headquarters.”

“Fostering and developing expertise in sustainable business and building practices is a priority for Cubellis,” said Steve Leone, AIA, LEED AP, principal and director of Sustainable Design at Cubellis.

The firm offers teams a way to stay connected and share ideas and information through its internal Sustainable Advocacy Group, the Cubellis Green Forum.
