The launch of the second annual Green Lodging Trends Report, a survey to assess and catalyze green innovation, best practices, and awareness regarding the state of sustainability across hotels worldwide, will launch on May 1. The Trends Report is a joint project of Green Lodging News and Greenview and covers topic areas ranging from air quality to energy management to kitchen and laundry and more. This year’s survey will build on last year’s and will include new questions meant to capture innovative best practices that have emerged in the last year. The survey also will include many of the same questions included in 2016—the idea being that we will be able to detect any uptake in what are becoming or have become green best practices.
For those who participated in last year’s survey, we will welcome your participation again this year. You will find your information from last year’s survey still on record in the Greenview Portal. Of course we welcome new participants as well. Be on the lookout for more announcements about the launch of the Trends Report and its related survey.
Those hotel or management companies, certification bodies, or associations with multiple properties that would like to be recognized as a supporter of the Trends Report should contact me at editor@greenlodgingnews.com, or Grace Kang at grace@greenview.sg. Supporters commit to having their properties complete the survey. Green Lodging News Adds Green Key as Trends Report Supporter
Green Lodging News welcomes Green Key as a supporter of the Green Lodging Trends Report. Green Key is a voluntary ecolabel for hotels, hostels, campsites, holiday parks, small accommodations as well as conference centers, attractions and restaurants. The Green Key award is based on compliance with strict criteria in the areas of environmental management (water, energy, waste, cleaning, etc.) and sustainability education (staff, guests, suppliers, etc.). Compliance with the criteria are confirmed through a rigorous application process and verified at on-site audits. The award is valid for one year at a time.
Currently, more than 2,500 establishments in 54 countries are awarded with the Green Key. The program is managed by the international charity, the Foundation for Environmental Education. How to Search on Our Website
Similar to other search engines you find online, a search using one word will produce articles with that word included. If you would like to search for something that is more than one word long—ozone laundry, for example—you will need to put quotation marks around the words or phrase. Ozone laundry would then be “ozone laundry” in the search.
