SAN FRANCISCO—BuildingIQ, a leading energy management software company, announced the limited beta release of FAULTIQ, the latest addition to its suite of building energy optimization applications. Integrating seamlessly with BuildingIQ’s PEAC Energy Optimization technology, the new product continuously and automatically reduces energy expenses, power demand and greenhouse gas emissions without requiring capital expense or adversely affecting occupant comfort.

FAULTIQ monitors, detects and diagnoses inefficiencies with energy consuming equipment, sensors, and existing control strategies to provide validated exception reporting to building engineers and managers. The application compliments BUILDINGIQ, the company’s flagship real-time energy optimization application, by automatically detecting anomalies and alerting building managers and engineers via e-mail, Web, and smart phones—with diagnostics.

Unique automation and detection methods allow for alerts to be raised only when relevant and with no operator intervention in order to avoid inundating building managers and engineers who are typically overwhelmed with thousands of unvalidated, undiagnosed alerts and alarms from their existing building management system. For further actionability, FAULTIQ generates work orders for building maintenance staff and vendors.

Because FAULTIQ and BUILDINGIQ share the same database, algorithms and connectivity to building automation systems, pairing them creates greater synergy and results in greater energy savings.

“Experience shows that the presence of faulty equipment, settings and controls limits the upside of any energy optimization strategy,” said Mike Zimmerman, CEO of BuildingIQ. “When these fundamental faults are identified, diagnosed and corrected, the full power of optimization is unlocked. We are pleased to provide our customers with an application which seamlessly integrates with BUILDINGIQ and its PEAC Energy Optimization technology.”
