AUBURN, N.H.—Aquawing Ozone Injection Systems (AWOIS) LLC, in Auburn, N.H., recently released a new laundry ozone injection system engineered to serve the hospitality market, including hotels, motels and B&Bs, according to Brett Daniels, the company’s vice president. The new ozone system works by infusing a continual flow of ozone, at a consistent concentration, into the wash process to properly clean moderately soiled linens and towels. The system, according to Daniels, produces cleaner linens over traditional washing, while significantly reducing the use of natural gas, water and chemicals, as well as resulting costs.

“This system was created to address the laundry needs of the hospitality market,” Daniels said. “A 120-room hotel doesn’t require the amount of ozone necessary to process heavily soiled hospital linen. That’s why the ozone system delivers lower concentrations of ozone into the wash process—perfectly meeting the needs of hotels and B&Bs—at a fraction of the cost.”

Many of the system’s benefits mirror those of Aquawing’s flagship product—the more robust tower systems. These include reduced water and natural gas usage, cleaner linens, improved laundry productivity, clinically validated super bug kill and simple installation.
The use of ozone gas gets laundry cleaner, according to Daniels, because the ozone attaches to and breaks down organic materials like soils, bacteria, molds and greases.

“Once broken down, these materials are easily removed from fabric by detergent in the wash cycle,” he said.

Axes Water Consumption

Because ozone works best in cold water, the system can effectively cut water usage by 30 to 50 percent, according to Daniels. “It eliminates or dramatically reduces hot water usage, natural gas consumption and produces significantly less wastewater and sewage,” he said. “Any wastewater that is produced is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.”

Moreover, laundries can also boost laundry productivity by shortening or eliminating rinses during the wash process. Altogether, the system effectively shortens wash time and dry time by up to 20 percent as well.

“Laundries typically realize a quick return on investment of less than two years, thanks to water and energy savings produced by the system,” said Daniels. “Plus it is small and easy to install.”

The system features a 25-inch by 22-inch footprint and can sit on the floor or be mounted to a wall. Installation takes about 15 minutes per washer and does not require special plumbing or electrical configurations.
