Our weekly e-newsletter is back after one week off. During the past week I have been asking all Green Lodging News subscribers to renew their free subscriptions to this newsletter and the weekly Green Supplier Spotlight. Thank you for signing up again and please be sure to tell your colleagues to do the same! It is important because those who do not renew their subscriptions will no longer receive the weekly publications. Periodically, trade publications go through this process; it helps to eliminate the addresses of those who move, change jobs, etc.
A lot of exciting things have been happening here over the past couple of months. As you know, the Green Lodging News website has been redesigned. Final touches are still being added. Be sure to let me know what you think of our new look. Our Green Lodging News blog now reflects the design of the new site and, as mentioned in a previous column, the site has new Vendor Videos and More Cool Videos sections, a Twitter feed, lead-ins to more news content, and an expanded Green Product & Service Directory.
The updated site is more search engine friendly than the previous site and it is already showing in the number of visitors to the site in July—76,000 visits, 278,000 page views and still counting. It is exciting to see this level of site activity.
One of my favorite industry publishers, Richard Siegel of Hospitality Upgrade, frequently writes about how much his publication has grown since he launched in it in 1992. He also always makes sure he thanks those who have helped him along the way. My publication just turned four years old—a long way from Rich’s 18 years—but like him I have to thank the many readers and industry suppliers who have helped Green Lodging News grow. I am looking forward to another four years and much more.
