WILMINGTON, DEL.—American Hometec, Inc. introduced its new Thermolock line of ultra-compact electric tankless water heaters—thermostatically controlled (a.k.a. temperature controlled) hot or tempered water units designed for easy compliance to codes like UPC 413.1-2006. The Thermolock line includes a family of three electric units—the AHQ-TC10, ACQ-TC10Y and ACQ-TB03X—all designed for hand washing, eye washing, booster heat or kitchen sinks in commercial settings as well as sinks, dishwashers or a single shower (tropical zone only) in residential settings.

Unlike other electric water heaters on the market, the Thermolock units feature a lockable interface that can be set to a precise, desired temperature and then locked to prevent unauthorized changes in temperature setting. The units also offer precise control of the outlet temperatures, even when the supply temperatures or pressures vary over time.

“American Hometec’s new Thermolock units are the only water heaters on the market that allow facility managers an easy way to prevent unauthorized changes in temperature settings,” said David Millilo, American Hometec’s vice president of marketing. “Customers can set their desired temperature, lock it by pressing control buttons in a certain way and then forget it. The units are also very compact in size to fit under sinks and feature an LED display and sleek, modern design that makes them a must-have appliance in both commercial and residential applications. With the introduction of these new units, American Hometec is setting the bar in terms of both technology and design in water heaters.”

Patented Coilless Technology

The three Thermolock units feature American Hometec’s patented Coilless Technology, which heats water in a different way—indirectly through unique heat transfer. Other electric heaters on the market immerse coils directly in the water in order to heat it, causing heat spots, which produce build-up of lime scale and a decrease in heating efficiency. Because there are no coils with American Hometec’s pioneering technology, the electric components are never in direct contact with the water being heated, preventing accumulation of lime scale inside the unit and increasing longevity of the unit.

The Thermolock units allow users to set and lock in a specific, desired water temperature, are simple to use, and are free of ongoing maintenance. They also feature Multi-In-One Technology, which means the units can handle multiple needs by acting as two or three units in one. This exclusive design therefore reduces inventory cost, saves space and provides a great deal of convenience to both distributors and contractors.

The AHQ-TC10 features three capacity settings—4.8, 7.2 and 9.5 kW, with an electrical requirement of 240V. The ACQ-TC10Y also features three capacity settings—5.5, 8.3 and 9.5 kW, with an electrical requirement of 277V. The ACQ-TB03X features two capacity settings—2.4 and 3.4 kW, with an electrical requirement of 120V.
