Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley

According to Glamping.com, “Glamping is where stunning nature meets modern luxury. It’s a way to experience the untamed and completely unique parts of the world—without having to sacrifice creature comforts.” Green Lodging News has published articles detailing numerous examples of glamping destinations opening in recent years.

One company specializing in developing glamping camps is Under Canvas. It just opened its 11th camp in Paradise Valley. Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley is located on 50 acres of picturesque ranchland near the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley is the brand’s second camp near Yellowstone National Park and its third in Montana overall.

“The debut of our newest camp, Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley, marks a significant milestone for the brand, a full-circle moment as our first-ever camp is located near West Yellowstone,” said Matt Gaghen, CEO of Under Canvas. “We are delighted to expand access to the vast wonders of the Greater Yellowstone region, immersing guests in the renowned natural beauty, wildlife, ranchlands, and Western culture for which Yellowstone is celebrated. Offering bucket list adventures just steps away from the lobby tent, along with contemporary Western-inspired design and culinary highlights, we take great pride in providing an elevated home base that allows travelers to fully embrace the enchantment and splendor of iconic Yellowstone.”

Total of 50 Safari-Inspired Tents

Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley offers 50 safari-inspired canvas tents fully furnished with plush king size beds, luxe linens, USB charging packs, bedside lanterns, a wood burning stove, private deck with views and ensuite bathroom (hot shower, sink and flushing toilet). Unique tent accommodations feature the Stargazer Tent, complete with its own viewing window intentionally placed above the king bed allowing guests to stargaze at night as they drift off to sleep. Signature to this camp, the Yellowstone River Suite Tent features two tents adjoined by a private deck, its own private firepit and an outdoor area, where the primary Suite Tent features a bedroom wing outfitted with a king bed, lounge area with a queen size sofa-bed, ensuite bathroom, wood stove and private deck, and the adjoining tent includes two twin beds and an ensuite bathroom.

In true Montana style, the main lobby tent is adorned with contemporary, mountain-inspired indoor/outdoor furnishings from West Elm and design features with nods to the region’s storied ranch history. Embers, the cafe-style dining concept on-property, serves as a vibrant, communal hub where guests can indulge in indoor or al fresco dining while soaking in the serene ambiance of its idyllic riverfront setting. Serving up fresh and healthy dishes from the brand’s signature menu, Embers offers seasonal salads, charcuterie, locally caught trout, grains, vegan and vegetarian dishes, as well as Montana-inspired BBQ meats smoked daily on property along with indulgent sides. Guests can enjoy locally sourced cocktails and refreshments, while sharing complimentary s’mores by the fire after an adventure-filled day spent in nature. Premium brand partnerships provide complimentary guest use of lululemon mats and yoga blocks, Black Diamond hiking poles, and a Gibson guitar. Additional partnerships bring curated retail offerings to camp, including activewear from lululemon, Hydro Flask drinkware, Sun Bum sun products, Pendleton wool products, and an exclusive Under Canvas line of apparel and dog-friendly items.

Guests can enjoy complimentary onsite programming and experiences including acoustic live music, daily yoga, kids activities and more, while off-site adventures such as horseback riding, Yellowstone River wooden boat floats, guided hiking tours, fly-fishing and white-water rafting are all available to be booked in advance via an Under Canvas Adventure Concierge. An on-site Guest Experience Coordinator can also recommend favorite local hikes, restaurants, and must-see attractions both on and off property.

A One-of-a-Kind Experience

“Since opening our first camp 10 years ago near West Yellowstone, Under Canvas has dedicated itself to inspiring connections with extraordinary places, people, and the planet by enhancing access to the outdoors,” said Gaghen. “Similar to the brand’s Grand Circle road trip experience that spans five camps throughout Utah and Arizona, our launch of Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley offers travelers a one-of-a-kind experience for guests to stay and discover additional sections of Yellowstone National Park with a multi-camp itinerary at both our West and now North Yellowstone locations.”

A cornerstone of the Under Canvas experience is the brand’s mindful approach. This includes pull-chain showers, low flow toilets, and rechargeable battery packs in the tents, all of which work to minimize resource use. Under Canvas camps are designed to minimize intrusion and maximize open space, each with dedicated, undisturbed green spaces. The camps are designed to flow with the natural topography of the land to eliminate unnecessary earthwork. New this year, Under Canvas and global environmental nonprofit The Nature Conservancy have come together to help fund conservation and raise awareness through education, volunteer efforts and donation programs. The brand’s commitment also includes efforts to minimize overall environmental footprint in the areas of waste management, water use, and special lighting that minimizes light pollution to maximize the enjoyment of the striking night’s sky.
