FORT WORTH, TEXAS—ITW Food Equipment Group announced the fourth and final winner of the Save Your Kitchen 2021 campaign sweepstakes. North Union Schools, in Richwood, Ohio, won by random selection in October.
North Union School district is in a rural area that has 1,500 students in grades from PreK-12 and is part of a close-knit community that is supportive of children and youth growing as leaders. There is a kitchen in each of the three buildings that house the high school, the middle school, and the elementary school.
“We were so excited to receive this equipment because it comes at a time when we really need it,” said North Union Schools Food Service Director Bev Wasserbeck. “We are seeing a significant increase in the number of students we serve every day especially with our free meal program increasing during this tough economic time for our families and supply chain issues we are experiencing. Having this new equipment will allow us to better maintain inventory and offer fresh, nutritious food to our students.”
This seventh iteration of the popular K-12 kitchen equipment makeover initiative kicked off in February of this year. Save Your Kitchen provides free Traulsen and Hobart kitchen equipment to four winning sweepstake entrants in four different drawings throughout the year. North Union Schools is the fourth and final recipient this year of the new kitchen equipment prize package from the Save Your Kitchen campaign.
Reach-In Freezer Selected
For their Traulsen prize choice, North Union Schools selected a Traulsen One-Section Reach-In Freezer for its middle school kitchen. Its industry-leading construction provides performance, durability, and ease of use. The spec-line cabinets offer the latest in cold food storage technology and are designed for faster temperature recovery and less frequent preventative maintenance.
The school also selected a Centerline by Hobart 20 Quart Mixer (HMM20), that has the Hobart quality every kitchen wants and the essential performance it needs at an affordable price. The mixer replaced a 30-year-old Hobart Mixer and is a perfect fit for their high school kitchen because it can be used for multiple applications.
“We know that there are schools out there that could use our equipment but may not have the funding to make that happen,” said Hailey Elting, Business Development Manager and K-12 Specialist at Traulsen. “This sweepstakes gives them an opportunity to dream a little bigger and have access to equipment they might not have otherwise. We want to help them deliver a great food product, keep up their productivity and serve their students fresh, healthy food.”
The sweepstakes is open to K-12 nutrition professionals in the 50 states and Washington, D.C. Among the products offered in this year’s giveaways are Traulsen refrigerators, a freezer and a milk cooler plus a Hobart food processor, slicer, mixer and dishwasher.
