TORONTO—Tersano, Inc. announced its patented Stabilized Aqueous Ozone (SAO) solution is compliant with the requirements established in the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), to eliminate SARS-CoV-2, the pathogen that causes COVID-19. Tersano’s SAO solution kills over 99.99 percent of the MHV coronavirus within one minute. FIFRA is managed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The SAO solution was tested against Murine coronavirus/Murine Hepatitis Virus (MHV-3), one of the approved ASTM/CDC surrogates for SARS-CoV-2. Tests were performed using ASTM protocol E1053-11 and results showed the Tersano’s SAO solution kills over 99.99 percent of the coronavirus within one minute. ASTM International is one of the world’s largest and most respected international standards developing organizations.

The Tersano iClean mini creates the SAO solution to safely and effectively clean and disinfect kitchen surfaces, furniture, bathroom surfaces, carpets, glass, windows, mirrors, toys, shoes and even produce and pets. Easy to use, consumers fill the iClean mini device with cold tap water, which is passed through diamond coated electrodes to create SAO instantly and on demand.

“SAO is an advanced technology that converts oxygen (O2) into ozone (O3) to create a powerful cleaner, deodorizer and disinfectant,” noted Steve Hengsperger, Founder and CEO of Tersano. “We’ve known for years that SAO was effective in killing germs, bacteria and mold. In addition to killing harmful pathogens such as salmonella, E. coli and the influenza and measles viruses, we now know that SAO offers consumers a non-toxic solution to quickly killing the coronavirus on any hard surface.”

SAO has been tested and certified by several prominent third-party laboratories, top regulatory bodies, and sustainability organizations as a safe and sustainable alternative to traditional chemical cleaners and disinfectants. It has been approved by the FDA as an antimicrobial agent and the USDA for their National Organic Program. It is listed on the NSF International White List as a no-rinse sanitizer and cleaner.

Tersano has been a global innovator in toxic-free cleaning for almost two decades and was the first company to concurrently receive both the Green Seal 37 (for Industrial and Institutional Cleaners) and the Green Seal 53 (for Biologically Active Cleaning Products). Today, Tersano’s SAO products are widely used by top universities, such as Stanford, global food service organizations such as McDonald’s and Domino’s and hospitality leaders such as the Excalibur and Luxor hotels in Las Vegas.
