AURORA, OHIO—TCP, Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of energy saving compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), announced it has been named Wal-Mart Global Procurement Supplier of the Year 2007 for its efforts in helping the retailer expand its energy efficient product offering. TCP achieved this honor for high levels of performance in product quality, on-time delivery, ethical standards and business management in manufacturing CFLs for Wal-Mart’s Great Value brand.

“This recognition of TCP is a tribute to our valued team of employees, our dedication to superior customer service and our quality products,” said Ellis Yan, CEO, TCP, Inc. “This is an honor reserved for only a few selected suppliers and we are very proud to be named the best of the best.”

In 2006, Wal-Mart pledged to sell 100 million energy efficient CFLs in one year in an effort to reduce America’s energy usage and help its customers reduce their utility costs and carbon footprints. The retailer surpassed its goal three months early. TCP, which has the capacity to manufacture as many as 1.4 million CFLs per day, worked closely with Wal-Mart in its efforts to expand its energy efficient lighting product offering.

“This award recognizes the value of our innovative technologies in helping the world’s largest retailer take a leadership role in protecting our environment and helping its customers make energy conscious decisions that will have a big impact that will be felt generations from now,” Yan added.
