AURORA, OHIO—TCP Inc. announced that it is a charter member of the newly formed U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Climate Protection Council. The council was announced during the two-day Mayors Climate Protection Summit in Seattle last month. The new Climate Protection Council brings business leaders and mayors together to address the issue of climate change and discuss innovative solutions for helping to make cities more sustainable. In addition to TCP, the seven Charter Members include: The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers; American Chemistry Council; DuPont; Johnson Controls, Inc.; Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Waste Management.

“As the largest manufacturer of energy saving light bulbs, we are excited to join mayors nationwide in their efforts to reduce the effects of climate change in their communities,” says Ellis Yan, CEO, TCP Inc. “We applaud their efforts and look forward to working closely with the mayors to tackle this global issue.”

TCP is leading the energy efficient lighting industry, producing more than 1 million compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) every day. TCP estimates its products account for a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50,000 metric tons per day. The company manufactures 70 percent of the CFLs on the U.S. market through a variety of name brand, private label and other lighting manufacturers (OLMs), including n:vision at The Home Depot and Great Value at Walmart.
