SANTA MONICA, CALIF.— Syndecrete introduces its renewable, sustainable solid surface material. Less than half the weight of ordinary concrete, Syndecrete has twice the compressive strength and there are no polymers or resins in its make-up. It is an advanced cementitious composite using natural minerals and recycled materials as its primary ingredients. Highly durable and resistant to chipping and cracking, Syndecrete has won numerous awards and has been featured in one of the first LEED platinum certified commercial projects and just recently, the first LEED platinum certified residential project in the nation.

In 2006, Eldorado Stone, LLC purchased Syndecrete from architect David Hertz, a pioneer in green design who developed the product more than 20 years ago.

“The mission of Syndecrete is to develop innovative green products with a commitment to the stewardship of our natural environment,” says Brent Spann, general manager for Syndecrete. “Eldorado fully embraces the philosophies of what Syndecrete appropriately represents to the future of design. We look at this relationship as a natural complement to the textural beauty of Eldorado Stone and an opportunity for a well-established company to help Syndecrete become a standard in the industry.”

Up until now, Syndecrete was a fully custom-ordered product with a focus on the Southern California market. Today, to help make Syndecrete more accessible and available on a larger scale, 13 trademarked colors and 12 trademarked aggregates have been developed. A new standardized product line includes:

• Slabs: 8’ x 30”x 2.5” thick and that weigh 360 lbs. Syndecrete slabs allow for final finish to take place at a stone fabricator. Since Syndecrete is a solid material throughout, a variety of unique edge details can be achieved.

• Sinks: Transcend, Reflection and Silhouette styles that are all 37”x 23”x 4” or 31”x 23”x 4;” and

• Tiles: 12” x 12” x .75 thick; 18”x18” x 1” thick; and 24”x 24” x 1.5” thick.
