LAGUNA BEACH, CALIF.—Soul Community Planet (SCP) Hotels is expanding its hotel offerings with the addition of two restored inns on the California Mendocino Coast—Glendeven Inn & Lodge and Inn at the Cobbler’s Walk. Following planned renovations, the two inns will combine to become the eighth SCP Hotel and will be known as SCP Mendocino Inn and Farm.

A celebration of sustainability, nature, and wellness, the two inns include 31 unique rooms, most of which offer wood-burning fireplaces and whitewater ocean views, along with 15 acres of farm pastures, organic gardens, and other wellness, socializing and dining spaces.

“We are excited to bring both the Glendeven Inn & Lodge and the Inn at the Cobbler’s Walk into the growing SCP family of boutique destinations,” SCP Co-Founder and CEO Ken Cruse said. “The inns, grounds and broader Mendocino Coast embody the healthy, kind, green values of Soul Community Planet. We look forward to preserving the rich history and traditions of this special property while introducing additional wellness, earth-friendly and socially responsible practices along with upgraded accommodations, a complete spa, new indoor and outdoor dining and socializing opportunities and a consistent scandi-farmhouse design aesthetic throughout.”

The inns are nestled between the redwoods of Van Damme State Park and the picturesque wildflowers and coastline of Spring Ranch Nature Preserve. Less than three miles from the shops and dining of the quaint 1850s town of Mendocino, the property is home to myriad gardens—including an edible interactive garden—meandering pathways and rolling pastures complete with chickens and llamas.

A ‘Modern, Clean, Farmhouse Twist’

The property will undergo a complete renovation that includes upgrading guestrooms and public areas and adding sustainability systems for energy, waste, and water. The rooms will be updated to reflect the brand’s clean and modern “Scandi-boho” design standard, with a modern, clean, farmhouse twist. The entire property will conform to SCP’s Peaceful Room standard—mindfully designed for guests’ relaxation and focus, free of the usual distractions (TVs, clocks, and radios) replaced with items to enhance guests’ peace and clarity with amenities such as sound machines, air purifiers, as well as a selection of essential oils and calming teas. SCP will also add state-of-the-art wellness facilities and a full spa with dedicated yoga and meditation space, featuring Peloton Bikes, and TRX equipment.

Other brand statements will be added, including a Terra Kitchen Restaurant, Wayfarer Club exclusive to guests and members and Provisions Market, all of which will reflect the company’s 2022 commitment to become plant-centric, 100 percent vegetarian, across all food and beverage outlets. The properties also will introduce an SCP brand-wide initiative that reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility through the Every Stay Does Good program that drives measurable positive impacts to the world each time a guest visits. Additionally, the new SCP Mendocino Inn and Farm will adhere to SCP’s strict “net zero waste” program, which, when combined with the company’s other sustainability initiatives will mean that each guest visit will leave the Mendocino Coast a little better than it was before the guests arrived.

The announcement continues SCP’s proactive growth, which included the opening of three hotels last year—SCP Hilo (June 2021) as well as Laguna Riviera Beach Resort (to be renamed SCP Laguna Beach upon completion of renovation) and SCP Seven4One in Laguna Beach (both in October 2021). SCP also operates SCP Colorado Springs; SCP Redmond (Ore.); SCP Depoe Bay (Ore.) and Salishan Coastal Lodge by SCP (Ore.).
