FRANKLIN PARK, ILL.—Sloan Valve Co. has received a Platinum-level award in the 2006-2007 Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX) competition—the highest award level given by design professionals on the judging committee—for its sensor-operated Royal Smooth Flushometer.

“Sloan is proud to be recognized for the design excellence of our Royal Smooth Flushometer,” says Susan Kennedy, director of marketing for Sloan Valve Co. “It’s an honor to be singled out for the high-quality, water-efficient features that Sloan builds into its Flushometers.”

The Royal Smooth Flushometer provides automatic, infrared, adaptive sensing operation without the need for AC hookups or wall alterations. Sensor range is adjustable. A true mechanical manual over-ride button enables the Flushometer to work in the event of a power failure. A low-battery indicator light signals when it’s time to replace the unit’s four “C” batteries. Water consumption, which varies between models, is as low as 0.5 gpf/1.9 Lpf for urinal Flushometers. Other water-efficient features include the non-hold-open handle, fixed metering bypass and no external volume adjustment.

ADEX is the largest and most prestigious awards program for product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes marketed to the design trade. Design Journal, the international trade publication for interior designers, architects and facility managers, sponsors the ADEX Awards. Judging is conducted by an anonymous panel of professionals, who judge entries in their respective areas of expertise.

For the 2006-2007 ADEX Awards competition, more than 500 companies entered upward of 2,000 products for consideration. Products are placed in Platinum, Gold or Silver award levels based on the number of overall points the judges rate them. Sloan’s Royal Smooth Flushometer was awarded the Platinum award in the Commercial Plumbing & Fixtures category.
