ATLANTA—With signs of the economy and the hospitality design industry steadily returning back to life, HD Boutique will return to the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Fla., on Tuesday, September 14, and Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Considered the sister show to Hospitality Design Exposition & Conference (HD Expo) in Las Vegas, the event will draw more than 450 global manufacturers to showcase the latest and most inventive products directly applicable for existing or future hospitality projects.

More than 3,500 key decision makers will comprise show attendees, including designers, architects, purchasing agents, and hospitality owners and operators who will meet with manufacturers face to face; familiarize themselves with the latest products; and make important business deals on the floor that spans more than 70,000 square feet. The items represented at HD Boutique include a vast array of fabrics and textiles, furniture, accessories, lighting fixtures, flooring, artwork, bath fixtures, window treatments, and many more hospitality-related products.

In addition to buyers and sellers connecting on the floor, the industry’s most notable design, hotel, and restaurant experts will engage attendees in more than 15 distinct panel discussions and workshops that focus on some of the most relevant and thought-provoking topics that face hospitality design professionals today.

HD Green Day Planned

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), in partnership with Hospitality Design magazine, will present at HD Green Day on Monday, September 13—the day before HD Boutique officially kicks off—and will offer attendees an option of participating in an advanced-level or introductory class led by USGBC professionals. The advanced class titled “LEED Core Concepts and Strategies” will takes place from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is intended for anyone who is interested in gaining more knowledge about LEED including those who are already involved in green building projects or pursuing the Green Building Certification Institute’s LEED Green Associate credential; it also offers continuing education credits for licensed interior designers and architects. The 100-level class titled “Green Building Basics and LEED 101” will take place from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is intended for those who are new to green building and looking to learn the basics, such as how climate change impacts a building.

One of the highlights of this year’s conference schedule is “Extending the Unparalleled Nobu Brand,” which will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15. It will feature a panel including Nobu co-founders Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper, and Trevor Horwell, CEO, and Struan McKenzie, COO, Nobu Hotels, to discuss how the organization is venturing into the development of luxury hotels, as they continue to expand their lifestyle brand which currently spans five continents with 20 restaurants in 15 cities.

Yabu, Pushelberg to Lead Session

Design visionaries George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg from Yabu Pushelberg will lead a complimentary session for attendees titled “Yabu Pushelberg in Conversation,” with Hospitality Design magazine editor in chief Michael Adams from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, that will discuss the duo’s vision behind a host of award-winning hotels, restaurants, retail environments, and product lines that have spanned the globe since launching their careers more than 30 years ago.

Stacy Shoemaker Rauen, senior managing editor of Hospitality Design magazine, will introduce six young honorees during the 2010 Wave of the Future Awards event, which will include Rafael Alvarez and Brannen L.
