RSI Launches RoomKey PMS Environment Fund

NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C.—RSI International Systems Inc. announced the launch of the RoomKey Property Management System Environment Fund. The RoomKey Environment Fund is being created to support initiatives that address environmental concerns in communities around the world. The fund will grow through donations made by RoomKey PMS clients, corporate partners and individuals. All donations made by clients will be matched dollar for dollar by RSI.

“The development of the RoomKey PMS Environment Fund is a natural extension of our social responsibility platform and another example of our level of commitment towards environmental stewardship,” said Mr. Charles Ku, CEO at RSI. “The RoomKey PMS Environment Fund adds further depth and breadth to our existing program base that currently includes a green product offering; carbon offsets; recycling; and employee initiatives. We feel that the fund demonstrates our environmental leadership within the hospitality industry.”

Donations made by RoomKey PMS customers are based on occupancy with the minimum donation starting at just $0.01 per occupied room night. Donations by corporate partners or individuals can be made on a one-time, monthly, quarterly or annual basis. Every quarter the RoomKey Environmental Fund (REF) will award all donations and matching company contributions to a global nonprofit organization working on an innovative environmental project. REF contributors will be able to vote on the projects that will be supported by the fund.

Projects working in the following areas will be nominated to receive funding:

• Air quality and alternative transportation;

• Renewable energy;

• Energy efficiency; and
• Reforestation.

Projects nominated to receive funding must meet the following criteria:

• Ecological impact. It demonstrates potential to generate significant environmental improvements.

• Action oriented. Its primary focus should be on taking concrete steps that work to resolve local environmental problems and help to develop sustainable solutions.

• Innovative. The focus should be on the development and implementation of an innovative project to address one issue area.

• Not for profit. The project must be carried out through a not-for-profit, charitable non-government organization or co-operative.

“The RoomKey PMS Environment Fund aligns well with our other social and environmental responsibility initiatives and really strengthens our brand position for RoomKey PMS—the first green property management system alternative for hoteliers,” said Mark Smiciklas, RSI’s director of sales and marketing, “We are very excited about offering hoteliers the opportunity to make a positive environmental contribution through our RoomKey suite of products and our new environment fund.”
