ALPHARETTA, GA.—BEST WESTERN PLUS The Inn at King of Prussia, a 168-room property owned and operated by RWK Enterprises, Inc., has completed a furniture refinishing and armoire conversion project led by The Refinishing Touch. Within 30 days, The Refinishing Touch restored headboards, nightstands, side chairs, benches, desks, micro fridge cabinets and armoires in 100 rooms throughout the establishment.

With 2,500 square feet of meeting space added in 2011 and only 20 miles from Philadelphia, BEST WESTERN PLUS The Inn at King of Prussia caters to a large audience of corporate professionals. The most recent furniture renovations were a result of the hotel’s commitment to guest satisfaction, as many business and leisure travelers identified the improvement the 42” LCD televisions would bring to the property.

The Refinishing Touch updated cherry-colored armoires by eliminating the top portion of the furniture piece, applying a granite surface and staining the asset with a more contemporary, darker finish, to accommodate the guestroom’s new televisions. Refinishing and laminate replacement were also done to 143 nightstands, while 100 benches received a color change and were re-upholstered using the company’s durable fabrics from its Touch Textiles division. To complete the guestroom transformation, headboards, desks, micro fridge cabinets and side chair legs were refinished using The Refinishing Touch’s innovative non-toxic, low VOC lacquers.

Cost Savings of 75 Percent

By choosing The Refinishing Touch’s furniture asset management solutions, the King of Prussia hotel reduced its total expenditure by an estimated 75.8 percent. In addition to the cost savings, the property also prevented landfill waste and deforestation, and minimized carbon emissions (in tons) from 125.32 to a mere 1.24.

Tien-Yueh Bosma Kubach, owner of the BEST WESTERN PLUS The Inn at King of Prussia, said, “Guest feedback is taken into great consideration at our establishment, and we had to meet business travelers’ requests for upgraded LCD televisions. Our existing armoires were recently purchased and in great condition—we wanted to find an alternative to disposing of them. In just one month, The Refinishing Touch delivered the perfect solution with its innovative refinishing, re-upholstery and armoire modification services, and updated every furniture asset in 100 rooms throughout the property. The production crew cooperated with guests’ accommodations by avoiding any early morning or late night work, helping us remain open to maximize short- and long-term ROI.”

Mario Insenga, founder and president of The Refinishing Touch, said, “With the gradual economic upturn, property managers must adapt to meet the needs of every traveler, including those of leisure guests, families and business professionals alike. This combined with tightened budgets and the need to demonstrate environmental responsibility poses a challenge to hoteliers during renovations. The Refinishing Touch prides itself in offering a cost-efficient, sustainable solution—furniture asset management services that are completed on-site in a fast, seamless manner, or in the case of BEST WESTERN PLUS The Inn at King of Prussia, only 30 days.”
