WOODLAND HILLS, CALIF.—Raindrip, a division of NDS, has earned certification under the requirements of the EPA WaterSense Specification for Weather-Based Irrigation Controllers as listed in ICC-ES PMG-1157. The evaluation verifies compliance to the specification.

“It’s been a pleasure working with ICC-ES PMG during the final development phase of EPA’s WaterSense controller specification and throughout the testing and certification process for our controller,” said Dan Nourian, director of R&D at NDS, Inc. “Their knowledge of the certification process, professionalism, positive attitude, and the work they did to move quickly to certification completion sums up the great service offered by the entire ICC-ES PMG team.”

The Raindrip model RSC600 WeatherSmartPRO is a six-station weather-based irrigation controller that includes a wireless weather sensor. It is a self-adjusting controller that uses the weather sensor to gather real-time, on-site temperature and rainfall information to automatically adjust and/or suspend irrigation watering throughout the year.

“This product is designed for residential use and works with sprinkler and drip irrigation systems,” said Maribel Campos, ICC-ES PMG director of Standards. “ICC-ES technical staff thoroughly reviewed Raindrip’s weather-based irrigation controller to validate compliance with the WaterSense specification as stated within ICC-ES listing report PMG-1157. The WaterSense label on irrigation controllers makes it easy for homeowners and contractors to identify models like the WeatherSmartPRO that are at least 20 percent more efficient than standard controllers.”

ICC-ES PMG works with manufacturers to assess and provide the WaterSense label and the ICC-ES PMG Listing Mark simultaneously. The program is a one-stop shop for manufacturers to obtain a code conformance listing, a WaterSense listing, fast turnaround, and an opportunity for broad market acceptance. The WaterSense Program protects the water supply by promoting water efficiency and enhancing the market for water-efficient products and practices. ICC-ES PMG offers listings for water-efficient urinals, lavatory faucets, high-efficiency toilets, showerheads and landscape irrigation controllers, in accordance with EPA specifications.
