NASHVILLE, TENN.—An effort to raise money for The Purpose Hotel has launched. Celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart (Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Sting, etc.) is using Kickstarter to gather financial support for the project that aims to fight against injustices of war, hunger, poverty, global warming, racial tension, unclean water, addictions and natural disasters. Every aspect of the global chain will directly contribute to those in need through partnerships and sponsors. Through the project’s Kickstarter, individuals have the opportunity to become co-founders as backers of the project. With a dedicated goal of $2 million in funding, backers of the hotel will receive perks and rewards based on their pledge to The Purpose Hotel Kickstarter. As of July 27, 2016, more than $300,000 had been raised.
According to The Purpose Hotel website, the first $2 million raised will fund the initial design phase of the hotel that will be located in Nashville. The next $4 million will go toward securing land for the hotel.
“If we can raise $6 million, $8 million or $10+ million, we have a real ability to be a strong cash contender in our market for the project we will pursue,” the website says. The hotel is expected to cost from $70 million to $100 million.
Hotel Will Support Work of Nonprofits
From blankets to soap, Internet access to furniture, The Purpose Hotel will help fight cyclical issues through domestic and international partnerships. Fueling not-for-profits around the globe, The Purpose Hotel will source its materials from organizations that actively work to improve the lives of people around the world.
The hotel will include The Purpose Store. Every product in The Purpose Store will benefit a cause. Hallways and common areas will be filled with light and sound. Rooms will be rich with textures and fine finishes, including one-of-a-kind handmade items. There will be an interactive TV feature where patrons can see and interact with all the organizations The Purpose Hotel is connected with.
When guests arrive and check in, they automatically will become a member of the community. A receipt and online account will show each individual’s impact and the collective influence of people choosing The Purpose Hotel. Under the room number outside each door, there will be a boy or girl who will be helped given access to education, food, clothing and more. Inside each room, guests can learn about every object in the room and why it was selected. Throughout the hotel, the walls and the art will tell stories of people from cultures around the world. A custom software system will allow one to book a room and explore every detail in the building to see and hear how others are connected to it. The creative team will continuously change the look and feel of the hotel. From the art on the guestroom walls to key installations featured in the lobby, every item that flows through the building will contribute to the collective impact of the community from day one.
The goal is to have The Purpose Hotel up and running in the next two to three years.
