MILWAUKEE, WIS.—Telkonet, Inc., developer of the EcoSmart energy management platform featuring Recovery Time technology, announced continuing demand for its EcoSmart technology with a completed installation at Park Hyatt Chicago.

Park Hyatt Chicago installed Telkonet’s EcoInsight energy management thermostats in all 198 guestrooms, including 13 suites. Located in Chicago’s Gold Coast Historic District, Park Hyatt Chicago joins several of Telkonet’s neighboring hospitality clients, including a 1,200-room luxury hotel property.

The EcoInsight, integrated with the company’s Recovery Time technology, is a programmable, controllable thermostat with more than 125 configurable settings used to control the efficiency of a property’s heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems. Every room is constantly and independently evaluated to determine its energy efficient temperature based on internal and external environmental characteristics. Recovery Time technology delivers room-by-room, occupant-by-occupant savings while maximizing guest comfort.

Recovery Time Appealed to Director of Engineering

Park Hyatt Chicago director of engineering Fernando Saavedra selected EcoSmart energy management for the hotel due to the capability of Recovery Time.

“We have an international reputation to maintain,” said Saavedra. “Park Hyatt Chicago has set very high standards for the guest experience, and we absolutely cannot compromise room comfort. With EcoSmart’s Recovery Time technology, our guestrooms always maintain an acceptable temperature.”

“We want to resolve maintenance issues before a guest is affected,” Saavedra added. “Telkonet’s EcoCentral management platform communicates seamlessly with our workflow management software, HotSOS, allowing the maintenance team to carry out repair tasks before a problem HVAC unit disturbs a guest. Prior to installing EcoSmart, we didn’t have that capability.”

“To have a hotel of this caliber install EcoSmart proves that guest comfort and energy efficiency do not need to be mutually exclusive,” said Jason Tienor, CEO of Telkonet. “Increasingly, EcoSmart is becoming the technology of choice for luxury hotels that value the guest experience but also wish to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability.”
