LAS VEGAS—Northland Furniture Co. will introduce the Linea Modulara line of furniture at this year’s HD Expo. Linea Modulara has a clean, sophisticated look and a smart, functional design that makes the traveler’s experience simpler and easier while offering hoteliers a resilient, easy-to-maintain design in an efficient package.

“We believe this line breaks new ground, offering innovative solutions never seen in this industry—from improved luggage management to better privacy,” explains Jim Hughes, president & CEO of Northland Furniture. “We have thought about the traveler’s experience coming into the room and staying in the room as well as the hotel operator’s experience of keeping the room looking fresh, without adding maintenance time or cost.”

Linea Modulara was designed by Thatcher Schwartz, an independent designer, whose work has been recognized nationally across a range of industries. Each piece in the collection can be effectively redesigned using different materials, finishes and leg profiles. This line offers designers maximum creative flexibility, while still meeting the stringent quality and cost requirements of a hospitality environment.

Anchoring the Linea Modulara collection are multi-functional units that address several of the fundamental requirements of a successful hospitality environment—luggage handling, workspace, recreation and sleep. The Silent Butler system is comprised of a desk with a wall-mount for flat screen technology, an enclosed refrigerator cabinet and a luggage manager, which combines a wall-mounted wardrobe with a two-drawer chest.

Efficient Use of Space

The luggage manager enables travelers to open their luggage carts, move hanging garments directly to the wardrobe and to store other items in the drawers below without having to repeatedly move, open and close the luggage cart. The Sleep Zone system consists of a bed platform with extending side panels for holding modular nightstand drawer units and integrated lighting. Both units have small footprints with an efficient use of space.

“In the research we conduct, we are seeing the rolling luggage cart as the ubiquitous companion for travelers and believe there is a need for a casegood solution,” explains Jim Hughes. “We see the Silent Butler as solving problems for travelers and hotel operators and improving the hotel experience.”

All of the pieces in the line have concealed hinges and cords and durable finishes that make the line easy to maintain. The Linea Modulara line is made from locally sourced materials, with water-based glues and solid lacquer finishes, reducing VOCs by 99.9 percent. All of Northland’s furniture is blanket wrapped and made from secondary forestation.

Furniture from the Linea Modulara Collection that will be on display at HD2009 Expo includes four unique styles of nightstands and chests in addition to the Silent Butler and Sleep Zone systems.
