BLOOMINGTON, IND.—The Green Cleaning Network, a nonprofit clearinghouse that shares information and educates the marketplace in order to accelerate the adoption of green cleaning, announces the launch of its new website. The timing coincides with two important announcements including the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) release for public comments of its revision to LEED for Existing Buildings Rating System (LEED-EB) and the Building Owners and Managers Assn. (BOMA) joining the Network and its board of directors.
The website’s Discussion Forums will provide the opportunity to review the current and proposed documents, and discuss issues associated with them. According to Doug Gatlin, USGBC’s Director of LEED National Accounts and member of the Board of Directors for the Green Cleaning Network, “the launch of the Network’s new website will help facility managers and others focus on the changes to the Green Cleaning credits within LEED-EB and help us both improve the Rating System, as well as to accelerate the rate by which Green Cleaning is adopted in the marketplace.”
Other initial Discussion Forum topics will include a simple “addendum” that is designed to help facility managers easily “green” an existing cleaning contract without requiring extensive and expensive revisions.
“The Network and the Discussion Forums are specifically designed to help building owners, facility managers, contract administrators, policy makers and others implement Green Cleaning,” says Steve Ashkin, Executive Director of the Network. “While cleaning product manufacturers, distributors and service providers will be able to follow the discussions, they will not be able to join the Network or Forum Discussions at this time, although we continue to discuss with our Board as to the best way to engage the supply-side of the marketplace.”
