HOLLAND, N.Y.—Staroba Plastics, Inc. announces the acquisition of EcoStar from Carlisle Construction Materials. EcoStar, known for its premium roofing tiles manufactured from recycled rubber and plastic, will now be known as EcoStar LLC under the ownership of Staroba Plastics. Based in Holland, N.Y., Staroba Plastics has manufactured the product since its inception.

EcoStar LLC will have full control of all aspects of manufacturing, marketing and selling the EcoStar line of products and will be ideally positioned to consolidate its position as one of North America’s leading suppliers of synthetic roofing tiles.

The visionary glimpse of what EcoStar is today began in the early 1970s with the development of the formulation for Starloy (Staroba Alloy). This base formula of recycled rubber and plastic is the foundation for the injection-molded roofing tiles that have become a leader in the synthetic roofing industry.

The first Starloy tiles were compounded and molded by Staroba Plastics in 1993 working in conjunction with roofing contractors. The first synthetic slate tiles were sold in the U.S. in 1996 with the Staroba family launching EcoStar Inc. nationwide in 1998. In 2001, Carlisle SynTec Incorporated purchased the sales and marketing portion of EcoStar, eventually establishing it as part of Carlisle Residential. Now in 2010, the Staroba family brings all parts of the business—manufacturing, sales and marketing—home to Holland, N.Y., as EcoStar LLC.

Known as a leader in synthetic roofing tiles, EcoStar’s Majestic Slate and Seneca Cedar Shake Tiles offer sustainability and durability. With a 50-year labor and material warranty, EcoStar tiles have now been installed on projects in Canada and the United States for almost 20 years.
