DARMSTADT, GERMANY—Green Pearls recently welcomed Hotel Rinner in Soprabolzano, South Tirol, as the newest Green Pearl. At the family run hotel everything revolves around the fascinating world of the bees, from honey tastings to the worldwide unique Api wellness. Here, the sustainable handling of resources plays a special role as the bees find their optimum living conditions only in intact nature.

For more than three generations family Rinner has devoted themselves to beekeeping. Host Paul Rinner has been a beekeeper since he was a young boy. In 1966, family Rinner realized their dream with the construction their own beekeeping operation with accompanying workrooms. It was only later that because of the positive tourism development in the region the guest house was built. Today the hotel consists of varied family-friendly and spacious rooms and suites, partially with sun terraces or balcony as well as separate children’s room. On the extensive breakfast buffet different honeys from the in-house beekeeping stand next to regional and seasonal products. Once per week guests can enjoy a honey-themed gala dinner focusing on bee and honey.

Not only design and beekeeping focus on bees but also the wellness area of the Hotel Rinner. The Api therapy, a treatment with bee products for health preservation and healing, is an old remedial method with a centuries-old tradition. In the spa area host Paul Rinner offers the unique “Beecura system”: a treatment method based on the inhalation of beehive air which allows one to reap the benefits of the valuable components without disturbing the bees. The beehive air is enriched with volatile substances coming from honey, propolis, pollen and beeswax, including essential oils and flavonoids, which can have a salutary effect on respiratory problems as well as allergies and also generally increase wellbeing.
