PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—The New England Eco-Hospitality Conference attracts hospitality professionals from throughout the region. The day features three tracks of educational sessions, with three one hour sessions in each track, allowing attendees to choose topics of interest to them. This year’s venue is the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, an Environmental Champion in the New Hampshire Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program. The conference will be held on Wednesday, November 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The conference’s organizers are requesting presentation proposals from industry experts, focused on topics of sustainability. Some topics of interest shared recently include: The Latest in Energy Efficiency and Conservation for Hospitality; Sustainability Topics for Small Hospitality Businesses (Inns, B&Bs, etc.); Green Meetings: Understanding Requirements and Attracting New Business; IPM and/or Dealing with Bed Bugs; How to Get Your Green Message Out to Travelers and/or Social Media and How to Make It Work for your Business; Environmentally Preferable Purchasing; Landscaping for the Environment in New England; Building a Strong Green Team and Successful Sustainability Plans; and Integrating Local Food Suppliers (including how to find them!) into a Menu. Proposals do not have to be limited to these topics.

Presenters can be hospitality professionals, government employees, professors, and/or suppliers to the industry. (A caution to suppliers—sessions must focus on a product neutral presentation.) Partnerships and/or panels are encouraged, to expand the breadth of experience included in the presentation. Proposals should not exceed one page in length, should identify all participants with contact information and should be submitted by September 9. Selections will be made by September 23. All submitters will be notified via e-mail on that date. Those selected will receive complementary registration to the conference. Travel expenses cannot be reimbursed.

Proposals or requests for more information should be sent electronically to Michelle Veasey, mveasey@nhlra.com.
