BETHESDA, MD.—Marriott International, Inc. announced that nearly 25 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are available and ready for use at several of its hotels. Guests at these hotels can now charge their EVs using the “Level 2” charging stations: Courtyard Oxnard Ventura, Oxnard, Calif. (two stations); J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa, Palm Desert, Calif. (three stations); Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel, Los Angeles, (two stations); Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa Indian Wells, Indian Wells, Calif. (two stations); San Francisco Airport Marriott, San Francisco, (two stations); Torrance Marriott South Bay, Torrance, Calif. (two stations); Residence Inn Orlando Lake Mary, Lake Mary, Fla. (two stations); Courtyard Hadley Amherst, Hadley, Mass. (one station); Residence Inn Charlotte Concord, Concord, N.C. (four stations); The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte, Charlotte, N.C. (one station); JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa, Las Vegas, (one station); and the Copenhagen Marriott, Copenhagen, Denmark (one station).

“Marriott is excited about the advancements in green travel options and we want to support our guests who are making electric vehicle choices,” said Rob Bahl, vice president of engineering and facilities, the Americas. “Adding EV charging stations is just one of Marriott’s initiatives supporting our ‘Spirit To Preserve’ environmental efforts/goals.”

Marriott expects to add 10 additional EV “Level 2” charging stations at eight hotels by the end of 2011. If a customer asks to charge an electric vehicle at a property where a charging station is not available, Marriott will make every effort to accommodate the guest’s needs and provide basic “Level 1” charging, if possible.

The company also recently added three new electric vehicles to its global headquarters’ maintenance and security fleet. Charged at the headquarters building, the vehicles further reduce the building’s carbon footprint.
