PEORIA, ARIZ.—LG HI-MACS, a leader in premium acrylic solid surfacing, launched LG Eden, the industry’s first environmentally conscious acrylic product, in conjunction with Earth Day and the City of Chicago’s Going Green: Earth Month Kick-off. Like Chicago, one of the top U.S. cities for green building, LG HI-MACS is committed to raising awareness of the simple things—like transitioning to green building products—that individuals and businesses can do to help improve the environment.

Highlights of Chicago’s Earth Month Kick-off included a speech by Mayor Richard Daley and a showcase of more than 25 organizations presenting a unique mix of environmental programs. As part of its participation in the event, LG HI-MACS provided information on earth-friendly countertop solutions, like LG Eden, that can help consumers, builders and architects improve the environment as well as meet the demands of new green building programs and standards.

LG Eden, developed using at least 12 percent pre-consumer recycled materials, is available in six natural colors—Cocoa, Honeysuckle, Ivy, Jasmine, Juniper and Lemongrass. Like all LG surfaces, the Eden line is non-porous, anti-microbial, stain-resistant and backed by a 15-year warranty. LG Eden is certified for its recycled content by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).

With this independent, third-party certification, LG Eden can contribute to the points needed for a building to earn LEED certification credits within the Materials and Resources category, one of six categories in which buildings can earn credits to achieve various levels of LEED certification.
