SPRINGFIELD, MO.—Less than two years after opening as the first all nonsmoking hotel in Missouri’s third-largest city, Springfield’s Krystal Aire Inn & Suites recently introduced yet another amenity designed to provide guests with even greater comfort during their stays—specially designed light bulbs that eliminate airborne odors.

The Fresh Bulb light bulbs, developed by Aurora, Ohio-based Technical Consumer Products and introduced to the hospitality industry earlier this year by St. Charles, Mo.-based Pineapple Hospitality Inc., are titanium dioxide-coated fluorescent light bulbs that consume one-fourth the wattage of a regular light bulb—cutting lighting costs by as much as 77 percent. The coating reacts with the fluorescent lighting when the bulb is turned on, eliminating room odors within minutes.

The spiral-shaped light bulbs have been installed in all 102 rooms and all common areas in the 102-unit Krystal Aire Inn & Suites hotel, which is located on the southwest corner of Interstate 44 and North Glenstone Avenue in northeast Springfield.

“The Fresh Bulb light bulbs are yet another way we are serving health conscious travelers who demand the highest quality amenities and an excellent price value,” says Bethany Martorana, general manager, Krystal Aire Inn & Suites.

“Fresh Bulb ensures a higher quality guest experience by ensuring a well-lighted room that is free from odors,” adds Ray Burger, president of Pineapple Hospitality.

The Krystal Aire Inn & Suites is owned by Drury Properties Inc. and managed by Rolling Oaks Hospitality Inc., both of Springfield.
