KELLER, TEXAS—Hotel Rescue announced that it has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program as an Energy Star Partner and will be able to expand its energy services by verifying almost immediately whether a hotel or commercial property qualifies for an Energy Star rating, measuring and tracking the energy performance of a property’s facilities, developing a plan with the both the client and Energy Star to achieve a property’s level of desired energy savings, assisting clients in spreading their green message and getting their properties listed on the official Energy Star property list, and supporting the Energy Star Challenge—an effort to improve the energy efficiency of America’s commercial and industrial buildings by 10 percent or more.

“We are so excited to have the opportunity to partner with one of the most trusted names in the sustainability world,” said Dr. Diana Driscoll, CEO and LEED AP at Hotel Rescue, a division of Ridgeline Hospitality, LLC. “With the numerous ‘green’ certification programs popping up around the globe, you can feel confident that Energy Star, introduced by the EPA in 1992, will remain at the forefront of trusted sustainability initiatives.”

Hotels that have earned the Energy Star perform in the top 25 percent of hotels nationwide, use at least 35 percent less energy and emit at least 35 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than their peers. The lodging industry spends more than $7.5 billion on energy each year. Reducing energy use by 10 percent across the industry could save $750 million and help reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 6 million tons annually.

“Good energy management is good business,” Driscoll said. “By helping businesses achieve an Energy Star rating, we are not only helping their bottom line, we are also helping the environment. We knew it was an integral part of our philosophy to ‘Go Green Gradually.’”
