QUEBEC—The owners of the Hôtel Nomad Québec, Olivier Donzelot, Romuald Georgeon and their team announced that they have obtained Biosphere Hotel Certification, an international recognition of their commitment to sustainable tourism. The Hôtel Nomad Québec is the first hotel in Quebec City and ranks in the top ten in Canada to receive this certification.

According to a project carried out in 2021 by students at the University of Sherbrooke for Tourisme durable Québec, the Biosphere certification is the best sustainability certification. To receive this recognition, Hôtel Nomad Québec had to demonstrate “compliance with actions of Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle, aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the Agenda 2030 by the United Nations, engaging employees in a common project and being positively valued by their customers.” Certification is obtained following a strict assessment of the achievement of these objectives, thanks to an independent external audit.

The Hôtel Nomad Québec has also been certified as a Carbon Neutral Company since 2021 and the owners have set the goal of achieving Zero Emissions by 2027. Although important, these objectives of reducing and eventually eliminating carbon emissions GHGs are only part of their commitment to minimizing the ecological footprint generated by the hotel and its customers.

“As individuals, driven by the spirit of curiosity and sharing, we are concerned about the fate of our planet; as entrepreneurs, we must act. It explains why we try to offer our customers services and benefits in line with our vision of eco-responsibility and sustainability without compromising the comfort and quality of the experience,” says Olivier et Romuald, an owner of the hotel.
