1 Hotels Celebrates Earth Month

MIAMI—1 Hotels, the luxury lifestyle hotel brand that cultivates the best of sustainable design and architecture, together with extraordinary comfort and an unrivaled level of service, will celebrate Earth Month with a series of brand and property offerings that honor the beauty of the natural world, promote environmental unity and encourage individuals to take small steps towards sustainability. For the month of April, all eight carbon-neutral properties in North America will launch activities and initiatives that promote a more collective effort towards protecting our planet.

As a mission driven brand, 1 Hotels aims to serve as a platform for change. Across the properties, programming and events such as zero waste dinners and mixology classes, panel discussions, sustainable retail pop-ups and Audi e-tron excursions will highlight 1 Hotels’ commitment to the celebration and preservation of the planet.

At 1 Hotels, food & beverage programs are rooted in an abundance of local, fresh, organic, and sustainably sourced natural ingredients including those grown in the hotels’ own organic gardens and apiaries. Over the course of 2023, 1 Hotels has set an ambitious goal of reaching 70 percent waste diversion. In 2022, the eight properties diverted 699 tons of water and saved 1,391 metric tons of CO2.

Partnership with Audi of America Renewed

Working with like-minded partners is inherent to the brand mission. This April, 1 Hotels and Audi of America have renewed their partnership, with Audi’s fully electric e-tron model line serving as the official vehicle partner of 1 Hotels through 2026. Both brands are committed to electrification and sustainable mobility, investing in environmental and community projects, and the responsible use of resources as part of a larger effort to become net-carbon neutral. 1 Hotels is also partnering with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), to support its mission to fight climate change and safeguard the earth. 1 Hotels will directly support the NRDC through the ‘We are 1’ package, offering guests up to 30 percent off daily rates, a $50 resort credit and a donation of $50 to the NRDC, as well as through specific programming.

Earth Month programming and events across properties include:

  • A Supper That Sustains Us: In partnership with a local vendor and charitable organization, each property will host a dinner to highlight the fresh and delicious offerings available to the local community. 1 Kitchen at 1 Hotel Nashville will host a special extended weekend Earth Day Supper That Sustains Us, showcasing seasonal produce from their partners at Bloomsbury Farm and dishes curated by Culinary Director Chris Crary.
  • Earth Month Cocktail: Across all properties, guests can enjoy Sapphire Tides, the zero-waste cocktail with a mix of Bombay Gin, Pineapple Juice, Blue Curacao and Coconut Water. Twenty percent of sales will benefit NRDC.
  • Zero Waste Mixology Masterclass: 1 Hotels’ quarterly masterclass series will kick off this April across all properties, where guests will learn how to create delicious cocktails that incorporate zero waste practices. For April’s Earth Month masterclass, 1 Hotels will partner with the sustainable brand 818 Tequila to teach guests how to create a Spicy Jalapeno Margarita that uses the entirety of the lime and Espresso Martini handcrafted with spent espresso syrup to discover how far each individual ingredient can take you.
  • Sustainable Pop-up Retail Shops: 1 Hotel West Hollywood will host weekly Goodthings x Conscious Market Sustainable Showcases featuring local sustainable brands, including Deborah Lindquist, York and Angel, Marina Leight Atelier, Neu Nomads, Busto and Sun. 1 Hotel Central Park will collaborate with the emerging athleisure and sportswear brand Able Made, offering clothing produced entirely from biodegradable plant-derived fibers and upcycled materials.
  • Mind & Movement: For the month of April, 1 Hotels’ mind and movement events will be rooted in nature, including a weekly Supercharged Sound Bath in collaboration with HigherDose at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, Pink Moon Aura Readings at 1 Hotel Toronto, and nature hikes at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay.
  • Earth Month Workshops: 1 Hotels will host an array of hands-on, nature-inspired  workshops and classes throughout the month. 1 Hotel South Beach will teach guests how to create their own unique terrarium and 1 Hotel San Francisco is partnering with Case for Marking and artist Julie Cloutier to lead a Watercolor Workshop, among many others.

Creating a complete and enhanced sensory experience, the Earth Month playlist, featured at all 1 Hotels, is inspired by the world around us and how, together, we can make Mother Earth a more sustainable home for ourselves and future generations.

Special Product Offerings During Earth Month

From trademark products and branded apparel to a curated collection of like-minded brands and retailers, Goodthings by 1 Hotels allows guests to appreciate the collection’s signature comforts from home. As a platform for change, 1 Hotels sources products that reflect the 1 Hotels brand and enhance the guest experience, using materials that are intuitively natural and sustainably sourced. During Earth Month, special product offerings include:

  • Be The Change Collection: A limited-edition Goodthings collection is made of 100 percent sustainability sourced cotton, made in Los Angeles. Offerings include a unisex crewneck sweatshirt, t-shirt​ and baseball cap. A portion of proceeds will go to NRDC.
  • Earth Month Medium Candle: 1 Hotels signature candle is an aromatic bouquet of exotic eucalyptus leaves and sultry cedar wood meld together with a transparent Oakwood to create an uplifting impression. A portion of proceeds will go to NRDC.

Wellness, nourishing the mind, body, and soul, is inherently connected to the natural world. 1 Hotels’ integrated approach to wellness is centered around a heartfelt connection with nature and conscious cultivation of serenity. The recently launched flagship 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay property features an expansive Wellness Center that offers a diverse menu of services, models and methods individually tailored to fulfill a guest’s preferences and medical, physical, and spiritual needs. Founder and organic pioneer, Carole Bamford, works with the 1 Hotel team to create serene settings for wellness sessions designed to nurture mind, body, and spirit. Meanwhile, The Field House by Anatomy combines wellness, sports, and science to offer guests an enriched, multi-faceted fitness experience.

Later this year, 1 Hotels will launch a brand-wide initiative—sustainable weddings & events—aimed at bringing events to life while rooted in respect for nature. 1 Hotels will formalize sustainable practices throughout each step of the planning process to minimize single-use plastics and divert at least 90 percent of all waste. A sustainable event unites all hosts, vendors, and guests around the common purpose of minimizing environmental impact.
