MCLEAN, VA.—Amid one of the most challenging times in the history of the hospitality industry, Hilton has been recognized for its exceptional—and resilient—workplace culture. Great Place to Work and Fortune named Hilton #1 on the 2021 Best Big Companies to Work For list and #3 on the 2021 Best Companies to Work For list in the United States. Hilton is the highest ranked hospitality company to appear on both lists, especially notable given the significant impact the pandemic has had on the travel industry this year.
“I am so proud of our Hilton family and honored by this recognition of our incredible culture—especially in light of the profound impact the pandemic has had on our business,” said Chris Nassetta, President and CEO, Hilton. “This recognition is a true testament to the culture we have built together and that we’ve worked so hard to protect during the most challenging year in our history. Our commitment to creating a great place to work for all has never been stronger, and I look forward to what the future holds.”
As the pandemic took hold in 2020, Hilton quickly responded to team member needs by ensuring meaningful opportunities and a workplace culture that reflects the unique times being faced. The company did so through the continuous development of impactful programs such as Courageous Conversations, a global, virtual learning series featuring internal and external thought leaders exploring elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The series provides a space for team members to engage in effective, open dialogue to help drive greater awareness, understanding and a more inclusive workplace.
Job Assistance Provided
Additionally, when the company underwent furloughs, Hilton partnered with leading companies to provide team members from temporarily suspended hotels with access to hundreds of thousands of short-term job opportunities created by the global pandemic. Hilton team members, and others in the industry seeking employment, were given direct access and in some cases expedited access to temporary jobs on the Hilton Workforce Resource Center at companies such as Amazon, CVS, Lidl, and Walgreens.
Recognizing the significance of mental wellness especially over the past year, Hilton continues to stress the importance of flexibility with its team members. The company will also be launching a mental health campaign in the coming weeks offering team members new tools and resources to help them thrive in mind, body, and spirit, in and out of the workplace.
“We are always deeply humbled to be recognized by the Great Place to Work Institute and Fortune as a Best Place to Work. To see our name on the list this year is especially meaningful given what our team members have endured,” said Laura Fuentes, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Hilton. “We have been guided by our values at every step of the journey, taking great care to provide solutions for our teams as they faced new and unprecedented realities—new roles, new ways of working, new responsibilities at home. Our team members are the heart of Hilton and we congratulate them for making Hilton a truly great place to work.”
