SAN DIEGO—HD Supply Facilities Maintenance, a leading supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products to the multifamily housing, hospitality, and healthcare industries, has donated products valued at $150,000 to World Vision’s relief work in Haiti.

“When people are suffering, you want to help in whatever way you can,” said Anesa Chaibi, president of HD Supply Facilities Maintenance. “HD Supply Facilities Maintenance is in a unique position because we sell many of the products most needed in the recovery. We turned to World Vision because they are best equipped to deliver our products to the areas of greatest need in Haiti.”

HD Supply Facilities Maintenance donations included toiletries (shampoos and conditioners, facial and body soaps, lotions, body wash and dental kits), bath and hand towels, mending kits, and bedding (blanks, sheets and pillows).

Supplies Pass Through Miami

World Vision opened a 90,000-square-foot facility in Miami through which large quantities of emergency and recovery goods are staged prior to delivery in Haiti. To date, World Vision has raised $29.8 million, with more than $8 million in product donation, or gifts-in-kind, for the Haiti relief efforts.

“Companies like HD Supply Facilities Maintenance are invaluable even during our ‘non-emergency’ times,” said David Owens, vice president for corporate development at World Vision. “So imagine how critical their supplies have become to us in Haiti now. With the immensity of this catastrophe, we are deeply grateful for these and other partners who will stand with us over the long haul.”

Last year, HD Supply Facilities Maintenance was named 2009 Distributer of the Year for its strong support of World Vision’s work. The annual award honors corporations whose contribution has demonstrated outstanding social responsibility and building supply industry leadership through its World Vision partnership throughout the year.

“Caring about others and helping build strong communities is integral to our culture and values, and is part of our rich history,” added Anesa Chaibi.
