WAYLAND, N.Y.—Gunlocke, an industry leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of wood contract furniture, is making it easy to include its sustainable product portfolio in projects to earn valuable LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits. Gunlocke’s latest online tool, the Green Calculator, provides designers and facility managers the opportunity to easily calculate how Gunlocke products can contribute to the earning of LEED credits for current and upcoming commercial interiors projects.

Located at www.gunlocke.com/greencalculator, the free Green Calculator platform asks users to answer a series of questions that help formulate a customized solution for their LEED project. Users are first asked if they are still browsing for ideas or if they’re ready to calculate available credits by using specific Gunlocke products. The product options specified with the Green Calculator include all of Gunlocke’s FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified products in contemporary, transitional and traditional styles.
Next, users are asked which type of LEED certification system they are using, to ensure the furniture can make a significant contribution to the project. They will then select the certification level they are seeking, along with the zip code of the project, to determine the contribution to the Material Resource credits. The following prompts inquire whether FSC certified wood is required for the project, as well as standard or premium veneer. Following additional questions regarding the price points and anticipated discount percentages, users will then be able to select one, two or all of Gunlocke’s product lines for comparison.
The Green Calculator will then generate results typical to office configurations that will meet the requirements that have been previously defined. A summary of information will be provided, which includes how the specific configurations will contribute to LEED projects, and also includes information on the dollar contributions to Material Resource Credits 4, 5 and 6. The Green Calculator can also alert users as to whether or not the configuration is IEQ 4.5 compliant. The information can easily be printed from the website or saved for a later date.
