Green Spa Network Announces Dates for 2010 Congress

VAIL, COLO.—The Green Spa Network (GSN), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inform, educate, and advise beauty, wellness, and spa-industry professionals and businesses on sustainability issues and green operating practices, announced that it will hold its third annual Congress at the LEED certified Westin Riverfront and Spa Anjali in Vail, Colo. The event, planned for October 3 to 7, 2010, will feature the theme: “Elevate Your Vision; the Sky is the Limit!”

“The GSN Congress provides an exceptional opportunity for committed spa and personal-care professionals to respond to the global imperatives for sustainability,” says Michael Stusser, chairman of the board, GSN. “By working together with like-minded spa and personal-care businesses, we can become part of an integrated and powerful response to our current economic and environmental crises.”

The Congress will feature informative presentations, interactive workshops, and panels led by wellness visionaries, sustainability experts, and thought leaders from the health, beauty, natural products, and media industries. Featured panels and presentations include:
Grow Your Green Business, with shared strategies and success stories from green beauty expert Jane Iredale, CEO, Jane Iredale Cosmetics.

The Meaning of Sustainability. How sustainable practices impact your health, the health of your business, and the health of the planet, with Lewis Perkins, expert blogger, Fast Company, sustainability strategist, and founder of New House LLC.

Mainstream Green: Regulation, Certification, and What Consumers Really Want. The latest on new directions in organic and natural beauty and personal care, with green beauty expert and best-selling author Rona Berg, former beauty editor at the New York Times Magazine, and beauty advisor/columnist, Lifescript.com.

What Makes a Business Sustainable? Experts will introduce the best practices to help you create an efficient and effective green business model. Learn how to use GSN’s member tools to run a sustainable daily operation. With Steve Hoffmann, Executive Director of the Organic Center, founder of LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) and Compass Natural, and Ted Ning, director of LOHAS Business Forum.
The Green Spa Evolution. An in-depth seminar on how spas can evolve to vitality centers and become an essential health and wellness destination for any community.

The GSN Congress is designed to forge vital connections and produce realistic strategies and initiatives that can be implemented on a personal, organizational, and business level to promote the natural connection between personal well-being, economic sustainability, and the health of the planet.
