SANTIAGO, CHILE—Radisson Santiago at World Trade Center announced that it has achieved a 3 Green Key rating through the Green Key Eco-Rating Program, becoming the first property in Chile to be recognized by Green Key, a leading green hotel certification program in the Americas.

A 3 Green Key rating demonstrates that Radisson Santiago at World Trade Center has shown national industry leadership and commitment to protecting the environment through its wide-ranging policies and practices. The hotel has mature programs in place that involve management, employees, guests, and the public, which have shown substantial and measurable results.

Communication strategies regarding environmental practices for guests, training programs, engineering solutions that promote water and energy conservation, solid waste management and indoor air quality, are some of the initiatives that helped the hotel achieve the 3 Green Keys.

Guest, Employee Participation

“We tried to implement a large number of procedures in various operational areas of the hotel that promote environmental care,” says Ernesto Byrne, general manager of Radisson Chile. “The participation and interest not only of the employees, but also of our guests on this task has been key to this successful process.”

Radisson Santiago at World Trade Center will continue to implement environmental and social initiatives within the parameters of the Carlson Companies’ Responsible Business program which creates policies and partnerships that seek the greatest positive impact on society and minimize negative impacts on the environment.

“We applaud the Radisson Santiago for its leadership role in sustainable lodging in Chile and South America as a whole,” said Tony Pollard, managing director of Green Key Global. “The Green Key assessment speaks in the universal language of sustainable hotel operations; Carlson has recognized this and made Green Key an integral part of its Responsible Business initiative throughout the Americas.”
