VENICE, CALIF.—Enovative Kontrol Systems recently launched D’MAND CIRC recirculation pump controllers that optimize central water heating systems for multi-tenant buildings. To improve the delivery of hot water, D’MAND CIRC operates on an as needed basis, minimizing radiant heat loss and pump run times. This greatly enhances the overall efficiency of water heating systems for hotels, and lowers natural gas consumption as well as heating costs by up to 30 percent. The installation of D’MAND CIRC can also assist in a building’s LEED certification.

“We’ve incorporated D’MAND CIRC into all of our buildings and immediately saw a significant energy savings reflected on our utility bills,” said Jim Colombo, owner of Pointe Vista. “The ease of installation and the ability to significantly enhance our building’s sustainability made the incorporation of D’MAND CIRC an easy decision for us. We’ve also found that it cuts down the wait for hot water which is a huge benefit for our tenants.”

Traditional hot water recirculation pumps run 24 hours a day. When pumps are left constantly running, energy is wasted, utility expenses increase and the friction created between the hot water and pipes leads to premature deterioration. Additionally, this process forces a boiler to burn excessive amounts of natural gas because the pipes continuously lose heat during times when hot water is not used. D’MAND CIRC turns pumps off, reducing running times to as little as one hour a day.

“D’MAND CIRC is one of the market’s most cost-effective retrofits for energy reduction with a quick payback,” said Derek Zobrist, founder and CEO for Enovative Group Inc. “Today’s recirculation pumps run constantly even when hot water is not required. Our controllers optimize hot delivery and outperform other energy saving technologies without compromising tenant satisfaction. By reducing pipe occlusion, pinhole leaks and damaging mineral deposits, D’MAND CIRC lowers costs related to boiler system maintenance as well as operating expenses.”

Government rebate and incentive programs are currently available that support the installation of the pump controllers.
