SYOSSET, N.Y.—Emerald Brand has created the first USA made Tree-Free hot cup. The technology mimics many of the newest rollouts by Emerald Brand utilizing their newest technology in Tree-Free, non-virgin or recycled traditional tree pulp. Traditional virgin and recycled pulp have and will continue to contribute to the deforestation and climate change epidemic. Not only will deforestation impact the lives of the species that live there, but it is also impacting the lives of humans.
Trees are disappearing at an alarming rate due to deforestation. According to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, an estimated 18 million acres (7.3 million hectares) of forest are lost each year. As a result of this, more than 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere due to deforestation every year. “Trees absorb the carbon dioxide that we exhale. They also absorb the heat-trapping greenhouse gases that human activities emit,” states Jaclyn McDuffey Managing Director and Product Development Director at Emerald Brand.
The mission to Protect Life continues at Emerald Brand; the leader in innovative material technology is adding Tree-Free hot cups during a time when deforestation and climate change are on the rise. “We will continue to expand the use of our Tree-Free pulp and Plant to Plastic technology to expand beyond the many products we already produce. A big part of our mission is to educate the supply channels on the merits of utilizing these cost-effective materials, which is radically changing the use of disposables,” states Ralph Bianculli Sr., Founder and CEO of Emerald Brand.
Emerald Brand cups are Tree-Free, recyclable, BPA free, chlorine free, fluorocarbon free, and printed with water-based ink. These Tree-Free hot cups come in a variety of sizes. They will be available in 10oz, 12oz, 16oz and 20oz. Emerald Brand will be rolling out this product line 3rd quarter 2019.
Emerald will also be expanding the hot cup line into 100 percent Compostable Tree- Free. This single wall hot cup will be available in 4th quarter 2019.
