Don’t Miss HX Session on EV Charging Station Best Practices

Drive a Tesla? A Leaf? A Prius Prime? A Volt? A Bolt? Many of your guests certainly are—and proudly. In fact, more than 800,000 Americans now drive electric vehicles (EVs). GlobalData predicts that the proportion of EVs as new registrations will rise from barely 1 percent of global passenger vehicles in 2017 to more than 15 percent by 2030.

Are you neglecting this growing sector of the driving public by not giving them what they most want—charging stations? These savvy drivers make their traveling decisions based on the availability of places to charge up. If your competition across the street has them and you do not, where do you think those travelers will stay?

If you do not know where to begin when it comes to EV charging stations, or you do but would like to learn more, I strongly recommend you attend a session I will be moderating at HX: The Hotel Experience at the Javits Center in New York City on November 12 from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on the trade show floor (Onstage—Hotel).

Focus of EV Charging Session

The session, “Electric Vehicle Charging Stations—Best Practices in Implementation,” will touch on all of the many aspects of EV charging stations: the latest technologies; incentives, rebates and grants; what types of charging stations and infrastructure you should have; how best to accommodate and market to this niche of travelers; and when to “charge” or not to “charge” those guests who stop by temporarily or for the night to use charging stations.

I have carefully selected a panel for this discussion. It will include: Rishi Shah, Managing Member, AspirEnergy (EV driver and one of the first hoteliers to offer EV charging stations at a hotel); Rock Henderson, Managing Member, GoSpace LLC (GoSpace offers a number of different charging station solutions); and Charles R. Goulding, President, Energy Tax Savers, Attorney & CPA (Goulding will address the legislation, laws, incentives and rebates that can impact the purchase and operation of an EV charging station).

The HX session is just one of many green sessions that will be part of the conference and trade show at HX and its adjoining show, Boutique Design New York.

I look forward to seeing you at HX. And, if you would like to share any of your EV charging station best practices with Green Lodging News readers, I can be reached at editor@greenlodgingnews.com.

How to Search on Our Website

Like other search engines you find online, a search using one word will produce articles with that word included. If you would like to search for something that is more than one word long—ozone laundry, for example—you will need to put quotation marks around the words or phrase. Ozone laundry would then be “ozone laundry” in the search.
