MCCOMB, OHIO—Crushproof Tubing launched its Simple Drain product (see video), an easy-to-clean and self-plunging drain trap, to the hotel industry. The decline in customers throughout the hotel industry is resulting in rooms being empty for extended periods of time. This can result in a very dangerous situation called “dry trap” where the water evaporates out of the traps that are critical in keeping sewer gasses from coming into living spaces through drain pipes.

“We have heard from several hotel chains that they are paying people to flush toilets and run water in their sinks and showers to avoid the potential for dry trap to happen, which is most commonly associated with outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease,” said Todd Grayson, inventor and Partner at Crushproof Tubing. “Our product clearly helps with this situation since our drain trap kit uses a rubber hose and comes with an included clip that can seal off those gases in the event the trap goes dry. Additionally, it can be filled with a bleach and water mixture to disinfect and kill any bacteria as part of the normal cleaning process. It is a safe, fast and easy solution.”

Simple Drain installs in minutes with a pair of scissors and is a universal solution for both P and S trap setups. The kit is ADA compliant, so you don’t have to use the padded covers for the drainpipes. Rubber construction for better seal quality and fewer leak points overall ensure a dry sink cabinet for years to come, reducing operating and repair costs. In addition, Simple Drain is 100 percent self-plunging so clogged or slow draining sinks can be fixed in seconds without chemicals or making a mess.

“This product was designed to revolutionize drain traps like push-to-connect fittings did to water supply lines,” adds Grayson. “We are excited to bring Simple Drain’s quality, durability, and ease of cleaning to the hotel industry.”
