RALEIGH, N.C.—Concord Hospitality Enterprises, one of the nation’s leading hotel developer/owner/operators, its affiliate hotels and Feed the Children, one of the largest charities based in the United States, with the mission of providing hope and resources for those without life’s essentials, raised a personal best $100,000 for its sixth annual Share Day volunteer event, with events staged in six cities across the United States.

Share Day brings together some 200 hotel employees utilizing seven trucks to distribute approximately 235,200 care packages to local families in need where Concord operates hotels. Funded by donations, the care packages contain non-perishable food and essentials like toilet paper and personal hygiene items sufficient to help a family of four for one week. In all, approximately 2,800 families were assisted.

Share Day is the culmination of year-long fundraising and community outreach events led by Concord associates across North America to fund the transportation of the food and essentials to the six distribution sites. Concord has donated nearly $400,000 since the inception of Share Day in 2009. This year, associates at more than 90 Concord affiliated hotels donated approximately 1,000 volunteer hours.

‘Our Small Way of Paying Back’

“With the particularly harsh winter, with severe snowstorms and multiple power outages across the country, we are all too familiar with the realities of unforeseen circumstances,” said Mark G. Laport, President and CEO of Concord. “Fortunately, however, such experiences also remind us of the importance of helping out our fellow neighbors and community members. From time to time, we all need to lean on one another to get through the rough patches. Concord considers itself an active member in each of the communities in which we have hotels, and this is our small way of paying back those areas.”

“Concord’s continued efforts have provided nearly half a million dollars since its inception, a major step towards creating a world where no child goes to bed hungry,” said Feed the Children President and CEO Kevin Hagan. “Literally, tens of thousands of people have benefited from their selfless actions.”

Concord Hospitality Share Day locations were: Hamilton, Ohio; Houston; Pittsburgh; Raleigh, N.C.; Englewood, N.J.; and Tampa, Fla.
