Thousands of hoteliers all over the country have swimming pools that they maintain every year. There are many more that are considering putting in a pool for the first time. Having a pool can be a great thing when it comes to cooling off on those hot summer days. However, the upkeep for these pools is something that you need to keep in mind. You also want to think about what you add to your pools to help keep them clean and safe for your guests. Getting a pool for the first time can run a lot of money out...

Why Innovative Eco-Friendly Cleaning Matters to Hotels

First impressions count, which is why hotels should ensure they spend ample time cleaning the first things their guests see; the building’s exterior, including its windows and the main lobby. Back in 2015, unpleasant carpet odors were the second most complained about issue hotels received from their guests. Therefore, it’s just as important to keep the carpets in your rooms fresh and fragrant. This statistic should provide those in the hospitality trade all the encouragement they need to enhance their curb appeal and provide a healthy hotel to customers using the latest eco-friendly cleaning techniques. Serge and Elena have since grown the product line to include chrome-capped TubShroom, a...

Greening the Cleaning Supply RFP Process

Most hotel managers and sales departments are very familiar with requests for proposal and the RFP process. However, most of the RFPs they work with are from organizations that want to do business with the hotel. For instance, hold a meeting or conference at the property and asking what the charges would be. However, many green properties are not that experienced in writing their own RFPs, and for green hotel properties, an RFP is essential. This is because they are selecting cleaning supplies and products that are environmentally preferable. But first, let’s make sure we are all on the same page....

Green Pool Makeovers—Cost Effective and Planet Positive

NATIONAL REPORT—For hotels in warmer climates, swimming pools are a must; and in colder climates, a surefire way to push up the star rating. However, pools are historically a bad choice for the environment, with Arizona State University finding that the average swimming pool emits 1400kg of CO2 every year. This throws up a challenge; how can you maintain a swimming pool, whilst helping mitigate climate change and preserving that all-important bottom line? The answer, as always, is technology. As innovators continue to push green technology despite outside pressure, the tools to maintain an eco-friendly pool are there and becoming more affordable every...
