HILLSBORO, ORE.—Caroma, a leader in dual flush toilets, urinals, and stylish bathroom sinks, announces its newest high efficiency toilet (HET): the Sydney Smart back outlet. The Sydney Smart back outlet HET is one of the first back outlet dual flush toilets to be WaterSense labeled, delivering high performance and water savings in the bathroom.

The Sydney Smart back outlet features Caroma Smart technology, developed and mastered over the last decade. It delivers a combination of design, water savings, and performance. The Sydney Smart back outlet is dual flush, using 1.28 gallons (4.8 liters) of water per flush (gpf/lpf) for solid waste and 0.8 gpf (3 lpf) for liquid waste and toilet paper. This averages less than 0.9 gpf (3.4 lpf), which can save the average family of four more than 5,000 gallons (19,000 liters) annually when replacing a 1.6 gallon (6 liter) toilet, more than 11,000 gallons (44,000 liters) compared to a 2.5 gallon (9.5 liter) toilet, and nearly 19,000 gallons (70,000 liters) per year compared to a 3.5 gallon (13 liter) toilet.

The Sydney Smart back outlet features the following:

• Dual flush, using 1.28/0.8 gallons (4.8/3 liters) per full/half flush (averaging under 0.9 gpf/3.4 lpf);
• Large trapway, virtually eliminating blockages;
• Maximum Performance (MaP) tested at 900 grams;
• Washdown technology to push waste from the bowl;
• Easy installation; and
• WaterSense labeled.

“We are extremely pleased to introduce the Sydney Smart back outlet high efficiency toilet to the North American market,” says John Karas, North America product manager. “Having the first Caroma back outlet HET enables it to be used in even more applications to conserve precious water resources by utilizing Caroma Smart technology. With one of the best performing back outlet toilets available and averaging less than 0.9 gallons per flush, Caroma continues to be a leader in the development of high performance and water conserving toilets and high efficiency urinals.”
