NEW YORK—Carnegie, a leader in the field of textile design, has introduced Night Sky, a collection of high-performance barrier upholstery textiles. Night Sky is an anti-microbial, moisture- and odor-resistant finish that has been awarded Cradle to Cradle Silver certification by MBDC, the highest rating available for a finish.

As with all Carnegie products, sustainability is an important factor; Night Sky is fabricated using Crypton Green, currently the most environmentally-responsible product of its kind in the market. Night Sky is made using a minimum of 50 percent recycled content and Crypton Green contains 90 percent less PFOAs and 20 ppb less Formaldehyde than the original Crypton, in addition to being PBDE-free and Cal 1350-compliant. Production takes place in a facility with reduced water consumption and purified air.

The genius of Night Sky lies in the fact that a widely used product was pushed a step further by Carnegie to be functional, practical, visually attractive, and eco-friendly. Night Sky can withstand heavy-duty abrasion (50,000 to 100,000 double rubs) and, because of its moisture barrier, is easy to clean and maintain. The patterns in the collection are inspired by the incomparable beauty of the night sky. Each design—Celestial, Comet, Flare, Horizon, Nova, and Pebble—captures the mystical attributes of starry nights.

Carnegie is a leading manufacturer and innovator of textiles in North America. Since 1950, the family-owned company has established a tradition of firsts, including the development of its own Xorel fabrics, which provide a durable alternative to PVC materials and is included in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution. In addition, it has built a reputation for its ongoing and comprehensive commitment to the environment through all parts of its business cycle.
