WYLIE, TEXAS—Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing, Inc. (CCW), a leading manufacturer of waterproofing and exterior protection products, introduces Barritech VP, a fluid-applied, vapor-permeable membrane air barrier.

Barritech VP provides a continuous, monolithic air and water barrier, which enables improved building energy efficiency, indoor comfort and building envelope durability. The molecular structure of Barritech VP allows passage of moisture vapor while eliminating the penetration of liquid moisture. This chemistry allows Barritech VP to keep rainwater out of the building envelope, while allowing indoor moisture to escape. Barritech VP is installed into building exterior wall assemblies, often at the same location in which building felt or paper would be.

Barritech VP also features a simple, single-component application by spray or roller and a quick, primerless application over concrete block, concrete, exterior gypsum sheathing, plywood, oriented strand board (OSB) and many other common building materials. With high viscosity and thixotropy, Barritech VP easily coats surfaces in a single pass, at a 0.060-inch (60-mil) wet thickness, which air-dries to a 0.040-inch (40-mil) thick, rubber-like membrane.

“With the addition of Barritech VP, CCW will be able to provide a practical solution for energy-efficient wall construction in any climate zone,” said Brian Carey, CCW Air & Vapor Barrier Product Manager. “This addition will enable us to continue providing our customers with solutions for the entire building envelope and will allow us to access more of the market.”

Barritech VP is immediately available in five- and 55-gallon containers and is stocked in the northeastern and southern United States.
